PUR Primer 1K is a low viscosity single component solvent based moisture cure polyurethane primer especially formulated to significantly enhance the adhesion of polyurethane Range of waterproofing coatings and polyurethane joint sealants, with the most common construction substrates. PUR Primer 1K can be also used as a sealer and dust-proofer over dry and damp concrete substrates.
AREA OF USES
- The product is used on high porous substrate such as normal grade concrete and red bricks.
- Impervious substrates such as aluminium, steel and glass.
- Can be also used as sealer and dust-proofer on dry and damped concrete slabs.
- Highly recommended as a bonding material on waterproofing membranes' repairs and overlaps work.
SUBSTRATES
Concrete, Cement surfaces, wood, metal, fiberglass and many other surfaces.
ADVANTAGES OF THE PRODUCT
- Single component polyurethane-based and easy to apply.
- Provides durable primer after curing.
- Provides excellence adhesion between substrate and topcoat.
- Resistant to water and chemicals.
- Increases the service life of the waterproofing system.
SHELF LIFE / STORAGE CONDITIONS
24 months from date of production.
The product must be stored as per local storage regulations and should be kept in dry and well-ventilated location far from heat and direct sunlight.

SURFACE PREPARATION
The substrate should be sound, clean and free from contaminations. Surface laitance should be removed by light scrabbling or grit blasting. In some cases, it will be necessary to use mechanical processes to prepare the surface, as well as chemical means to clean metal surfaces.
PRECEDING COAT
None
APPLICATION
Stir the product well before use, PUR Primer 1K can be applied by a brush or roller. One or two successive coats of product should be applied at a rate of 5 - 10 m2 / litre depending on the porosity of the substrate and left to dry before being over coated with polyurethane waterproofing coatings. Care must be taken in the application of the material according to the coverage rate, as different thicknesses might adversely affect the adhesion and durability.
Note: PUR Primer 1K is not recommended for application over highly humid substrate (i.e. substrates with RH greater than 80%). Under such circumstances, it is recommended to use PU Flex Primer 2K.
FOR ANTI SLIP SURFACE
For anti-slip surfaces, fine sand must be spread on the top of the paint while it is still wet. The surface is allowed to cure for at least 24 hours; the excess aggregate should be vacuum cleaned from the surface then apply a 2nd coat with a medium texture roller of T.T Epoxy Top coat SF. Care should be taken to ensure that continuous film is achieved and all grains are completely covered and coated by the epoxy mixture. The optional slip resistant texture is provided by the range of the coarse sand selected
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Use only where application and drying can proceed at temperatures above 5°C, and relative humidity is below 75%. Apply only on a dry and clean surface.
CLEANING
Equipment used during the application should be cleaned with a proper solvent following the application.
SAFETY
Apply in well-ventilated areas. Do not smoke. Do not apply near naked flames. In closed areas use force ventilation and carbon active masks. Keep in mind that solvents are heavier than air so vapour concentration is higher in air closer to floor. For further information, refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
REMARK
- All technical data stated in this Product Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests. Actual values may vary due to circumstances beyond our controls.
- Newly applied material should not be exposed to rain and frost for 24 hours.
- It should not be used in rainy and fog weather under + 5 ° C.
